Regional Information

SWACURH is the Southwest Affiliate of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc. (NACURH). There are eight regions within NACURH across North America and abroad. More information is available about the regions and the NACURH. SWACURH is a student run organization whose purpose is to provide leadership development opportunities for student leaders and advisors in residence hall systems in the southwest region of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. Schools throughout SWACURH and NACURH unite together to share ideas, traits, programming ideas, and leadership tactics with one another which we are then able to implement in our residence halls, lives, and organizations.
SWACURH delegates attend three conferences per year, SWACURH Regional Conference, No-Frills, and NACURH (National Conference). The SWACURH regional conference is held at a host school once a year in the fall and is usually attended by each schools NCC (National Communications Coordinator) as well as student and hall leaders, who serve as delegates to the conference. No-Frills conference is held in January or February each year and serves as a business meeting for member schools. The NACURH conference, held yearly in May or June serves as a gathering and business meeting that is open to all member schools of NACURH.

The SouthWest Affiliate of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated strives to be the ultimate, comprehensive resource for residence hall programming, leadership development, and improving residential life for all colleges and universities located in the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and the country of Mexico.

 

SWACURH Mission Statement
SWACURH strives to: assist in the development, recruitment, and recognition of member schools; promote regional spirit; and collaborate and learn from other regions throughout NACURH. SWACURH offers student leadership development opportunities, provides residence hall programming resources, and encourages meaningful residence life experiences while supporting NACURH values and its member schools.


SWACURH Diversity Statement
The South West Affiliate of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Inc. is a student led organization whose purpose is to provide leadership development opportunities for student leaders in residence hall systems across the country and around the world. Students that comprise our organization are of different races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religion, ages, genders, personal beliefs, and political affiliations. As such, SWACURH is a representative body of a truly multi-cultural population and is committed to promoting an atmosphere conducive to accepting and welcoming individual differences and lifestyles. We accept the responsibility to act aggressively and proactively toward educating our membership. We strongly encourage schools to build conference delegations that are representative of the diversity of the people from their individual campuses. Ultimately, we strive for an appreciation, understanding, and celebration of diversity
